eSIMs can be installed before or after arriving at your destination. Data will only start to be consumed from the queued bundle once data roaming is enabled and you are in a region that the data bundle will operate within.
The validity period of a Uswitch eSIM eSIM should be considered when travelling. eSIM and data bundles have different validity and expiry periods. For a more detailed description and examples of how this works, please check the following article: How Bundles Work.
In short the information for validity and expiry is as follows.
- The eSIM will expire 12 months after the last data use.
- The data bundle will valid for up to 12 months while in the eSIM queued bundles.
- The data bundle will expire after a 7 or 30 day counter once data consumption has been first started.
You can check on the status of your current eSIMs and data bundles by logging into your Uswitch eSIM account here.
